Remote Areas Energy Generation

Cowell Electric has a proud history of supporting regional communities with their electricity generation needs. From 1928 Cowell Electric owned and operated the power supply, including Generation, Distribution of electricity to the customers in the District Council of Franklin Harbour.

The power station was closed in 1970 when the State Grid was extended from Port Augusta to Port Lincoln. The company continued performing this function for over 20 years for the South Australian Government for their Remote Areas Energy supply townships including the APY lands, Kingoonya, Marla, Glenadambo, Marree to name a few.

In 2016 we were re awarded this contract and we presently hold the Generation licenses on behalf of the South Australian Government Department for Energy & Mining to operate and maintain the off grid power generation and distribution scheme (RAES) for fourteen

Electricity Metering & Retail

We have experience in the Electricity Metering & Retail function extending back to 1928. Cowell Electric is currently providing the Electricity Retailing and Meter Reading services for approximately 1800 customers.

Remote Areas Energy Generation

We provide a 24 hour emergency call out service to respond to supply restoration, emergencies and unplanned maintenance required in the South Australia Government Remote Areas Energy Scheme.

Electrical Installations

We have extensive electrical capabilities and can support our customers with electrical installations and systems including switch-rooms, motor control centre installations and substation design, construction and modifications up to 66kV and more.

Renewables

We have been working in the renewable energy industry for the last 15 years and has proven capability in large scale solar farm construction, wind farm balance of plant installations and more.

Distribution

We specialises in the Design, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Maintenance of powerlines from low voltage up to and including 33kV.

Transmission

Our key transmission services to our clients include; energy needs consultation, assessment and advisory services, design and engineering specifications and erection of steel mono-poles, concrete, wood and stobie poles.
